Listen
She stopped. Her heart was running crazy and her head felt like shattered glass. With only one foot on the ground and shadows in her eyes, she was still standing on the edge of the cliff. There was a small shake of the ground and everything started collapsing.
When the world crumbled, she was left out of breath. Her foot slowly moved forward into thin air. She grasped her hands at the sky in despair. Every little piece of shattered glass started going out through her eyes and her voice could barely stay inside. She knew that she needed to get a hold of that branch hanging on her left side but it fell long before she was able to reach it.
The wolf below was restlessly searching for a way out. The rocks started to cover more and more ground but he was still fighting. Getting out of that place was more important than anything. He wanted to run wild and free so, when he had glimpse of who he actually was, he just wanted to get out of that place that was never his to begin with. The earth crumbling didn't scare him at all as it was more scary to remain in that damned place. At one point, he raised his head and looked straight into her eyes with so much love and sadness that she actually felt at peace for once and smiled. Then he turned and left running.
Her scream covered the entire clearing in a cry of powerless despair. Her hands started bleeding as she hit the rocks and tumbled down but the all blood seemed like nothing as her scream started to get louder and louder breaking her chest. Until there was silence. The pain was still there but the noise was gone. She tried to rise but her legs wouldn't listen. Her hands were numb and opening her eyes threw sharp needles through her brain. She stopped trying and just stayed there but, somehow, the power she had was greater than before.
The earth was standing still. In the faraway distance, the rays of light brought peace between ruins. An excited pant was the only noise that filled the clearing. Her soul smiled.
